As linked to on our blog (and just like last year), this is the official thread for the contest. The thread was quite active last year, lets see if we can do that again. :D

Thanks Mr.Yuck and the rest of the OCNA admins for putting this together. No small task, I would imaging.
I'm hoping to complete as many of the tasks as possible. With few OCNA hides this side of the border (other than the ones I own), finding the required caches might be tough.
Anyone else have any "personal goals" for the contest?

I'm hoping to continue to put out new ones as I've been doing with a Baltimore Monuments & Memorials virtual series. I look forward to having some new one available to find near home.

An announcement here. Do NOT FORGET about our site owned challenge caches. It seems unless you're a person who checks the site often, and knew about them, no one remembered they were out there. To help a little, I've inconspicuously put a link to them on the sidebar of the frame around every page on the site. A "page" about them is planned. But just to do something, I just linked to all of username OCNAChallenges hides. I will try (no promises), to get another 12 or so released during the contest.

Ha, I might drop a BIT cache or two in the Baltimore/DC area this month. And as an added bonus, you'd get to be the de facto owner after you find it. By the way, that means I'm 99.8% sure I'm coming; the 22nd-24th.

And with me going to one of our "hotbeds of activity" in which I have never cached in before (I did spend 5 hours in DC in April 2014, but found no OCNA caches) I think I can get 25 of our caches this month. But I'll set the goal at 20.

And by the way, the admins play for fun. I'm not going to win me a How to Puzzle cache book or anything. :o

Below is the bulletin to all users that went out Friday, July 31st. Except our email server is a piece of crap, and I believe it only went out to about 40% of accounts, i.e. 2010-early 2012 joiners. Please respond if you received it. And don't worry about your join date, it will be right under your name here in the forums. :)
Greetings from OpenCaching North America! There are removal instructions at the bottom of this email. We like to say these bulletins are rare, but this is the 3rd one in a year.

We are celebrating our 5th Birthday on August 18th! We were originally founded by RVRoadTrip (Jerry) as only opencaching.us in 2010. He stepped down after only one year, due to health reasons (not life threatening). In 2011, CoffeePedlers, the owner of the domain name opencaching.ca merged with us, bought opencaching.mx, and we rebranded ourselves as OpenCaching North America.

To celebrate this 5th Birthday, we are running a contest the entire month of August, that encourages finding and hiding caches on our site. We have 24 individual prizes, and we can (and most likely will) add more before the end of the contest period. Everything you need, or need to know about the contest is outlined in this post on our blog: http://blog.opencaching.us/%3Fp%3D2129

They probably won't be ready until mid-October, but we are releasing 5th Anniversary Pathtags! We also will be hosting what we think is the world's first Google Hangout Geocaching event on our birthday. Check the “latest news” on the main page of our site for more info. Thanks, and please consider playing this month!

If you do not wish to receive news bulletins from OC US, you may change your account settings at http://www.opencaching.us/myprofile.php?action=change.

I read about the contest on the home page a few days ago and have been waiting until today to list a few new caches in my area. I already have a few in place, and work in progress.

We have a minor OCNA contest going here in Charlotte NC during the month of Aug. in hopes of generating some additional Official contest entrants.
I will not be participating in the local contest but WILL be working on the OCNA site contest.

Thanks for playing! And your first ever forum post. Well, the thread isn't as active as the one about last years contest, but whatever. If you look at the latest logs (left hand sidebar menu), and note the new caches being placed (also left hand sidebar menu, as well as the 10 latest on the main page), you'll see a good 20 people are playing. Not horrible I suppose, and we're only a week in.
