The GGA does many different things to promote the activity of Geocaching. At our monthly meetings we have events to teach newcomers and experienced Geocachers things like how to use a compass, how to recognize poisonous plants, safety in the woods, Leave No Trace ethics, How To Create A Cache, and much - MUCH - more!

We also use these meetings to plan other activities such as Geocaching Challenges, CITO (Cache In, Trash Out) Days, GPS clinics for places like REI Stores and more.

North Carolina Mountain Area Geocachers is in a prime location for beautiful vistas and outdoor adventure. Having a place for new geocachers to come together with seasoned geocachers and share their experiences serves two purposes: First, the newcomer can get acquainted with more experienced geocachers and get an idea about the "do’s and don’ts," along with ideas about placing their own caches. Second, everyone will leave knowing a little more about the person they shared their experiences with and a sense of community and camaraderie will develop. This will encourage new geocachers to stay in the game and veteran geocachers will have the experience of seeing the game from a fresh perspective. It’s a win-win situation.
