Vacation caches and local maintainer

Post by Mr.Yuck » Sat Apr 09, 2011 8:41 am

So that Froggie website has a policy of having a local maintainer for so-called vacation caches. Doesn't have to be a Geocacher, could be your friend, your Aunt Edna, whatever. Is there such a policy here?

I am thinking of dropping a physical Opencache this summer about 300 miles from home, and I absolutely would have a local maintainer, a childhood friend of my wife's and her husband. I wouldn't want to drop it on Geocaching.com, it would be too much of a headache for all involved with the much higher traffic. But I guess I'm just looking for opinions on the matter for this website. If I even picked the right forum, kind of hard to figure out where it goes.

If there is someone to look after it, then I don't see a problem. If it gets 2 DNFs back to back, it may be flagged unavailable until it can be checked.
