Letterbox Type

Post by NativTxn » Thu Sep 15, 2011 10:37 pm

I just thought I'd put in another request for Letterboxes to be a specific type of cache (maybe an envelope or a stamp) instead of just an attribute. When I add my finds to GSAK, they all get categorized as Traditionals. I'd be nice if they showed up in the correct category.

I'd like to second this suggestion. I have one hidden, and think the unknown type may be a bit misleading. The active OCUS cachers in my area are good about reading the descriptions before they go out, but having been a n00b at one point, I'd would have taken one look at the icon and not even looked at the description to see what it was. I do hope this can happen one day!

If I did the search correctly it looks like we only have 6 caches listed with the letterbox attribute, and all but one state that they are a letterbox in the short description. IMO, that is not enough to necessarily warrant a unique icon. But again, that's just my opinion.

Ahhh....but I have plans for more... I'd just like for them to show up correctly in my stats generated by GSAK.

I am going to put out an 18 cache series of Animal Tracks letterboxes in/around my area. I'm using the stamps in this set. http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/prod ... D=prd54200. I've got the stamps and the boxes, but I need to paint/tape them all up and find a log that will fit in the containers. I think I'll do these as a "bring your own stamp pad" series.

My son and I are going to split these letterbox caches that I mentioned above. We are going to put a couple of stamps together in some of the caches. One of the stamps in the box turned out to be a duplicate, so we'll just keep it as a spare. The first of the series was placed today and we'll be placing more around our county soon.

I'm not that checked out on GSAK, but I did figure out how to change the type from Traditional to Letterbox on there. I would just rather it be automatic so I don't have to manually go in and fix them so that my Find Types show up correctly on the Stats.
