Printed BIT

A couple of questions:

1. Why does the BIT say "To log this game piece or to find out more, visit www.bitcaching.com"? Shouldn't it say "Visit www.opencaching.us" since that's where you have to go to log it?
2. Is the barcode supposed to go to OCUS? My printed one won't scan the barcode. I can scan the QR code just fine.

The regular bar code does nothing, only the QR code. I guess I should remove it to avoid confusion. The bitcaching.com site explains the game whereas someone just going to OCUS would have to search the Wiki for what to do. No doubt, the tags will be refined as time goes on.

Anyone that is actively seeking one, will already know it originated at OCUS. If somebody stumbles across one by accident, they are directed to BITcaching.com to learn about it. There is plenty there to let them know it is listed on OCUS. There is information in the OC Wiki about the BIT caches, but to be honest, most people read as little as they have to. To send them to OCUS first only to have them have to search for info about the cache type, it seems better to send them to the bitcaching.com site where they learn about the cache in detail... and then they can go to OCUS and know what to do.

As always, I am open to feedback and suggestions, so keep it coming! I will be working on a new template today without the QR code so it can much smaller. I'll share that when I get it done. A modified template without the dummy bar code is now live.

I like the QR Code which takes you directly to the cache page for logging purposes.

I cheated in printing mine...I use Chrome, which doesn't allow the background printing, so when the BIT was on the screen, I did Alt+Print Screen to copy the window. I pasted it to Word and cropped it out. Then I resized it to 2" x 3" and laminated it (along with a custom "Placed by NativTxn" backing)

That works! I also created another template without the QR code and it is much smaller. It is an option on the EDIT CACHE page just below the original one. I am fiddling with how to print it using PHP so Chrome can print them properly, but I keep having small issues.

Suggestion: For the one with the QRC, what about enlarging the OCUS logo a bit? Seems there is room to make it a more prominent.

Is there any way for me to see the BIT cache without actually submitting one? Are different sizes available, along the lines of a GeoKrety?

Hey, some people are noticing. 15 people joined OCUS on Tuesday. It's usually in the 2-5/per day range.

Done. Well, on the print page, not the examples. :)

Something I didn't notice!! I submitted my first BITcache(tm) and it was quickly approved (about 1/2 hour). Was the ability to print out my BITcache there as soon as I submitted the listing, or did it (the ability to print it) only appear after it was approved? I'm tending to think the link only showed up after it was approved, but I could have just missed it.

You can print it as soon as you create the page and go back into the edit mode.
