WoW!... I thought I was in the stone ages by still using a Maggie MeriGreen. The Searchers wrote:We use Delorme PN-40 mainly and Magellan 4000XL once in awhile. Still like this old one, the accuracy is great but it has no maps.
The Searchers
At one time my arsenal consisted of:
2 MeriGreens
Map330
Map315
Lowrance iFinder
MeriColor
MeriGold
Qstarz BT-800
Usually only carried 3 or 4 at a time, tho.
Got to be too much, as it was hard enough to get just two of them to ever agree with each other.
I still have the Map330, the Lowrance, a Green, and the Qstarz.
Only really use the Green, now tho. Once I get my Palm Lifedrive back together, i'll start using the Qstarz as well.
If I could afford a new GPS right now, I'd love to replace the Green with a PN-60.
Re: What do you use?
Started out with a Magellan Colortrak, back when it was the first handheld GPS receiver with a color display. It had a removable antenna on top, where I'd plug in an external one I had mounted on a part of a golf club shaft, then put in my backpack. Looked pretty cool with an antenna sticking up. lol
I think I still have it sitting on a shelf somewhere.
Now I use a Garmin GPSMap 60Cx.

I have 2 DeLorme units: a PN-20 and a PN-30. For the price I have never found better unit's for geocaching.

What is the difference between the 2 units?mugglekilla wrote:I have 2 DeLorme units: a PN-20 and a PN-30. For the price I have never found better unit's for geocaching.

Re: What do you use?
PN-30 is a newer (although it was recently discontinued), it is the PN-40 without the electronic compass. They have a dual processor where the PN-20 has a single. The PN-20 suffered from a slow refresh rate. The PN-30 has also been recently updated to make it easier to use paperlessly. The PN-20 will not be updated. As long as they update the PN-40 the 30 should also update.

I also use my Nuvi 255w for caching. When going on bigger cache run, I'll load any OCUS (and TC) caches in the Nuvi and navigate to those as my primary spots to hit. I'll load them and the GS caches in between in my 60CSx.DudleyGrunt wrote:Garmin Map 60CSx
I recently gotten a Droid2 and have been using c:geo on there for spur of the moment caching. The downside of that is that it is only good for GS. My dream is that at some point, we could have an app for OCUS.
