Geocoins...do you collect them?

Post by glorkar » Sat Aug 21, 2010 9:42 pm

I have a couple that I keep in my collection (with another one coming soon.) I've also got one in circulation. Not sure how many I'll buy, as it's difficult to find ones that grab my interest.

Got the coin I was waiting for. It is the 2010 Wisconsin Geocaching Association coin:

Looks amazing. I also got a geocoin from a penpal of mine from Germany. It's a 2008 Wheel of the Year coin:

Best birthday present ever, imo :)

Somewhere along the line, I accidentally became a geocoin collector. i have about 40 that I often take to events to be shared with fellow collectors.

I've bought a couple and set them free to roam around, but they are now part of someone elses collection.
Only one is still being logged. I drilled holes, and took a belt sander to it before I released it. Nobody wants that one!

There's a saying:
"If you love something, let it go. If it doesn't come back...it's a geocoin!"

Whoa, Pagan Geocoin, COOL! :D

I don't collect them, but I keep an eye on our area and try to help them move along very actively. Northeastern South Dakota is an easy place to get stuck when you are a coin!

Yes I do collect the geocoins. Of course when I started there were several from earlier yrs that caught my attention so I was busy looking for them. It also helped that I was working with extra money to spend. Now after 4 yrs caching I have about 150 coins. I used to take them to events for people to see until I actually caught someone trying to take ownership of 1. Now they are just in my personal collection at home. I will get a new coin every now & again if it has a special interest. I dont just get them because they are available. Each coin has a special significance.

Extra money, huh? I'd say :) I paid less for my first car than you have invested in your coins! Totally worth it imo, though :p
