I just figured I'd give Glorkar something to moderate. :D I hope he's doing OK, haven't heard much from him lately. I'm from Western NY, but I'm traveling to this region in June, where I plan on visiting the highpoints of Ohio and Indiana on the same day. These are only like 50 miles apart, and it sounds like I'll be lucky to do 100 feet of "climbing" at both high points combined. There are Geocaching.com Earthcaches at both these locations, and my intention is to make them both Virtuals or Guestbook caches on OCUS. I see no problem with Vacation Virtuals or Guestbook caches to help build up the website.

No need to "welcome" me, I joined OCUS the day it was launched when I saw DudleyGrunt tweet about it on Twitter. But if you have any comments on my road trip or proposed caches, let 'er rip.

I'm still around and kickin', no worry about that. Winter's kind of a slow time for caching for me, so my brain goes into a sort of hibernation. We've finally had a couple of nice days in a row and I'm really getting itchy to get out and find some stuff :p I also have to place some more to hopefully fuel some other cachers to do the same in the area.
Good luck on that road trip.

Hello everyone,

I am not much of a forum type, so I will lurk from time to time and pipe up on occasion. I am more into getting out in the real world.

With that said, I am the husband half of Those_guys. The handle came from my wife when I joined GC and she wanted to be part and since our last name is Guy, it stuck. My name is Greg, tho most just call me Torc.

We live on the East side of Cincinnati.

We are still new to this, having logged 260 findes on GC since early April. I like the idea of OC for two reasons: #1. Coming into the GC version of the game after so many others leaves the opportunity to hide caches hard to come by. #2. No premium membership. Don't get me wrong, having the premium makes sense on the CO stand point, certainly when TB's are involved, but when you take a sleeper out to their first cache that you love and they solve it, get addictied and awaken to the wonderful world of caching, they can't log the find without the investment. There are more but my sleep deprived mind is shutting down. :)

Welcome! I see you're into the GeoKrety's. Is that how you found us? That is a cool statpic for the GeoKrety banner, I should update mine to that.

Dayton/Cincinnati was one of our original "hotbeds" (by our standards). But I must admit, activity has died down significantly. As well as in some of the other original 2010 hotbeds such as Baltimore and Buffalo. I've found several in the Dayton area, but little or none around Cincinnati. I'm retired military, so I get amazing accommodations at Wright Patterson AFB when in the neighborhood.

Thanks for posting. Our forums are admittedly pretty dead, just like MOST classic phpbb type forums all over the internet. Facebook is to blame. Not that we have crazy activity on our Facebook page either. :D

Thank you for the welcome!

I actually came across a GK while in Eastfork State Park. I thought it was neat that you could make a trackable without having to pay shipping and handling from GC. I made a few from casino swag, one from a coin I picked up in Newport, KY and my parents were pewtersmiths and used their engraver to engrave the website and number on some of their shop medallions.

I actually decided to sign up after listening to a episode of Geogearheads. I just took on a graveyard shift and needed something other than just music to listen to. What better way to pass the time than to listen about geocachng.....then hitting a cache or two in the morning before hitting the sack.

There tends to be bursts of activity on a local FB page on geocaching. My fustration, if you will, is the lack of new player support. New people will come on the scene and unless they got into it through another GCer, we are on our own. until I started listening to the GGH podcasts, I was blissful in my ignorance of the finer aspects of the sport. Now that my eyes have been opened, it would be nice to either have a mentor or at least 101 classes to help out.

Definitely welcome to OCNA and to the world of "alternative" geocaching. Glad you've also discovered Geokrety.
