No more opencaching.com
Opie finally kicked the bucket. Opencaching.com seems officially dead now.

Clicking icons on maps doesn't work
When I open a map, I can see icons on the map representing the opencaches in my area (well, not real near my area since there are none.) If I click on one of the icons, I would expect to see details about that cache. All I see is a green box drawn around it, and then nothing. I tried this both in fi...

There's an implied smiley whenever opencaching.com is mentioned.Mr.Yuck wrote:
You're not even going to drop a smiley after that?

Re: Garmin bought Opencaching.com
Good info. Thanks! Oh, I'm just full of info from dnsstuff.com, including how many domain names point to Geocaching.com. I believe it's just a TOTAL COINCEDENCE that the original registration date for Opencaching.com was 9/15/2003, and Garmin acquired it on 9/15/2010. This is because I'm told expir...

Re: Garmin bought Opencaching.com
The right thing to do, especially seeing they've already wronged the OpenCaching Network once, would be to relinquish the domain name, but Chilehead is probably right. Of course I'm right. I'm always right. Just don't ask my wife though. Does anyone know if Garmin ever made any units with pre-loade...

Re: Garmin bought Opencaching.com
I saw that. Now, if they will just relinquish the domain name. I imagine that will never happen. The "real" opencaching network should have bought it when it was available. Garmin has too many references to opencaching.com in their devices, literature, and online. If they do decide to abandon their...

Re: Garmin bought Opencaching.com
With the announcement this week of the Garmin GPSMap 64 family of products, with 250,000 caches preloaded from geocaching.com, and the geocaching.com logo on the screen, the days of opencaching.com seem numbered.

Funny, because I remembered typing it but didn't see it, so I thought I forgot to hit the submit!

Making a mob cache
I thought I had posted this before, but either I didn't, or my memory sucks. I told Mr Yuck I'd make a friendly posting over here since it's so darn quiet over here. A related thing to my intercaching site is a mob cache concept I came up with. This is not a mob event, but would be a good geocache t...

Re: Making a mob cache
From looking at the logs on the 6 that have been published so far, it looks like about half actually do it, and the other half are along for the ride. I had one come out at our summer picnic a few weeks ago, and during the picnic there were 3 different groups congregating at the coordinates, each gr...
