Re: Geocaching survey
Thank you for all the great information. I will post the survey on REDDIT. I will also post cache hides here. I have my preliminary exams coming up the end of this month and then more in January so my life is pretty much exam studying until then. Dianna Took a little heat over there, eh? Not a lot,...

Re: Geocaching survey
Survey complete and shared on Facebook (Central Ontario Geocachers FB group). It seems to me that most active geocachers (which I will define as player that find at least 5 caches per week) will tell you they are NOT in it for the numbers, but from where I stand I would say most of the active geocac...

Re: New Benchmark cache type
Here is that discussion. It's all there, the thread sort of went cold before the site troubles started. But it is in a odd spot (although it does make sense to in some way) http://forum.opencaching.us/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1812 And here is the original discussion started in 2010 which I restarted over...

Re: Geocaching survey
I am - can I list those same caches here or do they need to be different? (sorry for the delayed reply - I spent all day yesterday traveling) You can...but (my personal opinion is) please don't or keep it to a few. There's little use having the same geocache listed on two sites (and of course there...

Re: Benchmark cache type
As for Benchmarking, this has sparked my interest and I have been out looking for a few that have not been recovered in 60 years or more. I don't have that many BM's to list, but it's not my intent to set the world on fire, but truthfully I wanted something different that I can't get on another lis...

Re: Benchmark cache type
Thanks Manville for your comments. It’s too bad a few Waymarking managers have ruined it for you. Have you ever thought about contributing to Wikipedia? Then your images and content will be used / viewed / appreciated, but they might also be edited since that’s how it works (community-generated cont...

Re: Benchmark cache type
I really do like the idea of ownership reverting to OCNA, but it's not like I'm totally convinced either. Here is where we disagree. I would not be interested in going out and gathering data, coordinates, and my photo uploads for OCNA to post as their property. If it goes the "OCNA-as-owner" route,...

Re: Benchmark cache type
I do have issues with the Web listing element for the mark. Do they all have a web based information site? Even smaller municipal agencies? It would be nice to have this part as a reference point but i question if they all do it uniformly and available to the public. I suspect there are some benchm...

Re: Benchmark cache type
... or is actually visiting a BM part of the requirement to list them here? See post #1: This is coming!! Hopefully before the 1st of the year, we hope to have them fully implemented. Background: The Groundspeak site used(s) only NGS Benchmarks (National Geodetic Survey), which of course are U.S. o...

Re: Benchmark cache type
They're lining up in droves to post them! They're just not people who post to internet forums. :o Our free lancer has been delayed, so it's actually good we bought some time here. I hope to go over this thread with a fine toothed comb later today or over the weekend, and post a synopsis of what we'...
