Re: New Benchmark cache type
Okay I thought you were kidding about painted rocks except now it's coming up in some facebook groups I'm a member of - camping related groups. And now there are FB groups dedicated to this: "Here's two Facebook groups, RVing Rocks, and Rock the Parks. For the painting rocks. Paint then, hide them, ...

Hey Mr.Yuck, so glad to hear that the surgery went well and that you're home resting. I know this it's been on the radar for a while. Only a couple weeks off work??? I was off for 7 weeks after surgery on my foot, I assume a hip takes a bit longer to heal up that a foot does. Take it easy.

Re: New Benchmark cache type
Thought I spotted a Munzee there too. I suspect that QR Code takes you to the river data page for that station https://waterdata.usgs.gov/dc/nwis/uv?site_no=01647600 Hey, would you look at that...it's a Tidal Station. Not found in the NGS DataExplorer but maybe in DSWorld (I will check la...

Re: New Benchmark cache type
Ahhh, I've got benchmarks on the brain... case in point: I'm on the website walking4fun.com entering my "mileage" from a few short hikes this past weekend. That website allows you to "hike virtually" through a number of trails such as the Appalachian and the Pacific rim. I'm "hiking" the C&O Canal /...

Re: New Benchmark cache type
I think it's all about the photos. ;) YES! Two or three good photos (one or two for structures like lighthouses or domes) and good coordinates should be all that is needed. Although the other details are nice https://www.ngs.noaa.gov/marks/descriptors.shtml#photos CLOSE-UP: highlight stamping with ...

Re: New Benchmark cache type
I decided to try a listing of my own. This one is an USGS mark but not listed in the NGS database. http://www.opencaching.us/viewcache.php?cacheid=2651 I'm experimenting with a table to display the info, it's designed around NGS and couple be adopted for other marks (i.e. Canadian) or there could be...

Re: New Benchmark cache type
Well, even if things did not go as planned, I came up with a few new ideas. We can just call them virtuals for now. :D No problems. ;) It would be nice to hear some input on my newest listings.... the BM Virtual thingies. Maybe someone viewed them? :o I think they look great - interesting lo...

Re: New Benchmark cache type
My Facebook post had no replies (although that FB group has not had a single post in months aside from the one I posted). in the mean while I just keep finding benchmarks and getting photos and info. Like you I am looking forward to the cache type become a reality, but I also know that after I creat...

Re: Create new caches broken again.
If you get the error message again, just refresh your browser then select "resend" when the pop-up window appears (In Firefox, the popup message reads "To display this page, Firefox must send information that will repeat any action (such as a search or order confirmation) that was performed earlier....

Record FTF find time for OCNA-only cache?
So Ontario picked up a new active OCNA cacher last month, in the London area (where former OpenCaching Canada admin CoffeePeddlers is from). He quickly took FTF on a couple lonely OCNA cache hides and also attempted to grab one of my traveling caches which as it turns out is missing (it's also a tra...
