Re: New Virtual
I just wrote up my first historical virtual cache. It is for the Hermitage Hotel in downtown Nashville. While writing it up I noticed that it opened on Sept. 17, 1910. So I have set the cache to go active on Sept. 17, 2010. I couldn't find the time of the day the doors opened so I set it for 7am. S...

Re: History Caching Basics
I'm in the process of cross listing several of my caches here to get things rolling in Middle Tennessee. Several of mine are hidden to highlight area of historical significance and the cache page tells the story. Since these are all physical hides do they not qualify? Do all caches in this category...

What's in a name?
Everything really, when it comes to doing searches via google and search engines. I am wondering if historic-caching might be a better term as history-caching gets confused with the history of one's personal computer cache. Try it out via search engines and see what you think. I like brief names but...

Promoting the History Forum and history caching
I'd like to invite some other folks interested in history-caching to this forum and of course using Open Caching for history caching. I took the urls from the forum and one of my caches and created tinyurl's to use as link to my website. Question is, will they work for the first time visitor rather ...

Re: History Caching Basics
This will not be a new type of cache as they clearly fall under virtual caches. This section was temporarily created to allow history caching aficionados a place to demonstrate interest. If traffic to this area is sufficient, it will become permanent. I will correct the "monumental" translations so...

Re: History Caching
Thanks for the reply. Yes that is what I call them. I know many people who enjoying caching with a history theme. I've met them on both Waymarking and Geocaching and we have had discussions on techniques and methods in message threads but never really had a forum. I would like to invite them to a fo...

History Caching
I'd like to suggest we start a forum for those interested in combining their interest in history with caching.
I know there are a few of us out there and I could invite more people to that forum if it existed.

Re: History Caching
I just posted my first history-cache here at Open Cache. If you have any suggestion to make it better let me know. I thought I would start with a Virtual Cache and then if it gets approved and looks like it would do well then I would plant a physical cache. How does the question feature work? I put ...

Re: History Caching
I definitely enjoy history based caches. Two of my three OC virtuals so far are history based and four of my TerraCaching virtuals are, as well. I will have to educate myself on Virtual Caches. I will navigate over to your profile and see if I can find them. Do you also put them on Waymarking? -RKO
