And of coursre DG sent out a "Information Bulletin" to all OCNA accounts today talking about the "goal" of 1,000 active, and 2,000 finds. Very nice, and not too "pushy" to causual users, fine job! I have 5 or 6 OCNA I can find before the 18th, and I'll even pledge to drop 2 WTF BITS. Seeing as how we can now type WTF in the forum. :)

This was the first Information Bulletin we've sent out, I believe, unless RVRoadTrip did some early on. I know it was the first I'd been able to do.

Got one response that was really directed at Garmin, suggesting it was time to hang it up. I replied and kindly let him know that we aren't them and that I hoped he'd look into us more.

ALSO, have already gotten one new cache out of it. Flexnerds published Totally Stumped. It was on GC.com, but was archived by a reviewer due to some confusion about whether it met guidelines. It may stay archived there and be unique, here.

Sadly, we just lost 6 caches from idratherbeinthewoods. Luckily, I'm sure we'll be fine in getting to the 1000 hides mark.

I dropped him a note to see if it was something we did or just the lack of activity on his caches.

Sorry to hear that. That was a very big name in Terracaching. I agree it was nice to send a note. Getting a "buzz-off and give it up, Garmin" from somenoe else is too funny. I could be wrong, but I think RVRT sent out a couple bulletins. Possibly to announce Guestbook caches, BIT caches, etc...

CycleAngela was out, today, and picked up a number of finds. I think we could hit 1900 finds this weekend, so that's good. I'm sure we're still good for the 1000 finds. stargatekrew had 3 new ones approved today and has several drafts submitted.

I'm hoping to get out Sunday and hide a couple as well. I have a new letterbox style hide in the works, and I'm hoping to launch a new moving cache starting near the letterbox hide. I hope dudleygrunt remembers the trails fairly well in my "usual" park.

Took a while to figure out, as they don't appear on the map on the main page, but it looks like 20 or so placed by Stargatekrew in North Carolina in late July, but only published today, did the trick. I think I might rescind my pledge of dropping two WTF bits in the next 8 days, and concentrate on FINDING Opencaches. That goal is going to be tough, but we can do it.

I cajoled someone into 9 OCNA finds this weekend. Just kidding, I didn't really cajole him, he's a willing participant. He just needed a gentle reminder, he definitely got the "bulletin" sent out by DG. As I type this, a few are not logged, but it will only bring us into the low 1,950's. The best I can personally offer is 3 or 4 finds by Thursday. And we have to remember the whole Greenwich Mean Time thing, the clock is set 5 hours ahead of Eastern Standard time. So anything logged after 7:00 PM Saturday EST will show up as being Sunday, and too late.

Hey, if events "counted" we wouldn't even be having this conversation. :D
