NOVAGO Sweltering Summer Soiree event and new caches Aug 11

Post by obxgeek » Fri Aug 02, 2013 1:34 pm

Three new caches have been placed and approved for the NOVAGO Sweltering Summer Soiree event at Franklin Park in Purcellville VA. It is a short 45 minute drive from Fredrick, About an hour from Hagerstown and an 1.5 hours from Baltimore for the Maryland visitors. About 1 hour from Washington DC and 30 minutes from Winchester, VA.

The caches will go live August 11th for the event to help introduce the typically gc.com cachers to other listing services.

Here is a link to the forum post detailing the event and the events around it link and to the event page on gc.com. OpenCaching.us listing has published OU067E

Hope to see lots of people come out for a great summer event.

Accepted the event! You have to publish, of course. We are going to change that one of these days, so WE publish them. Good luck with the event!

I love that the owner gets to pick the go-live time. It takes the load off the reviewer and I don't have to feel like i'm inconveniencing someone to get caches for an event published at the proper time. It also ensures that new caches in a dawn to dusk don't go live late at night tempting people. I wish that all the listing services had the ability to time delay the publishing after review.

Oh, I forgot to mention that will STILL be option! There will be a checkbox to choose the old way, or to have us publish them. (Us will be default) We don't go out of our way to tell anyone, but it's no secret, I suppose. I came on board almost exactly 2.5 years after the website was launched. I discovered that about 7% of accepted caches were never published! People either couldn't figure it out, or just didn't bother. There have been 18 this year. That doesn't count the ones you're sitting on for your event. Yes, we can see them in a list in the Admin menu, which I added. :D

I'm going to see if I can make it. I'd thought that last year's summer event was going to be my first outdoor NoVAGO event, but I ended up going to South Carolina.
