Uploaded image size limits

Post by Cyclops » Thu Dec 16, 2010 10:41 pm

I see there is a 100K size limit when up loaded images. My images typically run from 400K to 2M bytes. I tried to crop an image down but still ended up above 200K. Could have cropped more but would have lost to much content.

Is there a program to reduce an image's file size? I'm guessing resolution would suffer.

I edit my photos with Microsoft Office Picture Manager. Not fancy, but I can crop, resize, rotate, flip, and adjust color or brightness.

Try resizing instead of just cropping.
If you hide it, they will come!

Agree. I should have specified that. Do any cropping first, then resize.

Meh, I just use MSPaint to resize.

I use paint if I want to do simple modifications, such as adding a highlight / circle around something or erase something (trackable number, for instance).

Microsoft has a power toy that adds a right click "resize image" function. I had it and used it with no trouble in the past but since I reloaded the OS on this computer I no longer have it.
When I needed to recently resize a photo for posting on this site I did a search for online photo resizers and found several. Some are easy to use and you can quickly resize an image and download the result. I had to resize it again to get under the 200 mark but it took very little time to accomplish. Most remove the image from their servers in a matter of minutes so it is quick and useful without leaving your photo with someone else.
