I am building an index of history related caches. Ideally I would like to add it to an article I am writing for a history publication. The purpose is to encourage more newbies from the history buff population.

I welcome you sending me your submission of history related caches.

Here is sample of what I am looking for.

Cape Canaveral
Fuller Indian Mounds
Ancient Indian Burial Mounds

Thanks Glorkar,

I thought I would send everybody an update. I recently reserved an URL domain name and have it linking to my historycaching blog. I welcome everyone's suggestions and entries.

www.historycaching.us

I would be honored if some of you would consider becoming a follower and information contributor to it.

Historically yours,

Didn't see a way to follow you or post a comment on your blog.
I added a GB cache today that is in a historical site. See http://www.opencaching.us/viewcache.php?cacheid=378

Thanks RV Roadtrip for the listing. That opens up the great state of Texas to our index. That makes two new states added to our Union today. Ohio
is the other one.

When you scroll to the bottom of the index do you not see a place to enter a comment? I am not sure what I see is what everyone else can see. I have another follower so I know that feature is working for some.

When we get further along with this project I will see about getting this published with some history periodicals.

Anybody else have any history themed caches we can publish in this index?

Thanks Glorkar.

Yes I wanted some listings in Wisconsin. I will gladly add this one. Also I know there are some effigy mounds in the state of WI. Do you know
if there are any caches close to these Indian mounds? I have a interest in these ancient cultures. There is an element of mystery with
this culture.

Here are mine you might be interested in...

Belvoir Plantation
Thermo-Con House
To Lift a Nation (recent, but history none the less)
Defending Freedom at Home

Does make me wonder. What is history? Anything that has happened in the past? Something that is still occurring, but which has a "history" / past?

Thanks DudlyGrunt.

Can you add a short narrative of 2-3 sentences? To answer your question, I suppose at this stage we want historical themed geocaches
that get a fair amount of traffic. I've seen history themed geocaches way off in some rural area where few people get to. But generally
we want a history theme that has a broad appeal.

Would this be something that would fit? "Unionville" GC18GEE

If so since the Kent Island (Eastern Shore) of Md was the 1st English settlement in Md there are several burial grounds of historic nature. Many other locations in Md are also grave sites from the Civil War etc. Is this part of what you are looking for?

There are also a number of plantations. I'm sure this would be the same in many of the east coast, southern states.
