Magellan Cutting Lone Geocaching Staffer

A local cacher, Sue/CalvertCachers, shared this on some the local forums and FB groups...
Sad Day for the Geocaching Community.... I am truly shocked to hear that Magellan has decided to cut support and ties with the geocaching community by laying off the only representative who supported our sport/hobby. It was always great to see Magellan (Jeff Caulfield) at events showcasing the latest and greatest in GPS technology. Having the opportunity to talk directly with a highly skilled and knowledgeable person gave Magellan a lead over other GPS manufacturers and this management move is dumb founding. Especially since geocaching draws such a more diverse and larger customer base than hunting and other outdoor sports, you would think a major company like Magellan would want to increase its involvement. I sincerely hope that Magellan re-thinks this executive decision or I could easily see Magellan falling by the wayside and becoming one of those companies of the past.
Be sure to post or email your Comments to Magellan Outdoor, or Magellan GPS, or through their company website. And Spread the word through other Geocaching FB pages and websites.

Oh boy, it's even worse than she says. I have logged out of this forum a couple of times, and I believe everyone can see the whole forum, including this thread without an account: Thread about Jeff at Magellaninsiders.com. Pretty much Magellan is throwing in the towel on the handheld market, period.

They aren't kidding about being insiders, either. Username David is the ultimate Magellan insider Geocacher (Beta Tester) as well as the owner of the forum. Username JungleGhost is the probably 2nd biggest name in Magellan to Geocachers, a certified repair specialist from New Jersey (and a very good one, and very reasonably priced one at that). If David is saying "Go Garmin" in his post, I'm afraid this is quite serious, and the end of the line.

Dang, what do I have to do now, start buying Delorme? And no, I'm not buying a BHCNav.
