I heard this announced on a special "micro" edition of the Twin Cities Geocaching Podcast (Ep. 64.5?) and it was discussed during the Geocaching Podcast recording last night (Ep. 193), which should be released later today.

From the website:
This is the New Zealand version of the Mini Flag Geocoin Series.

They are about an inch (25mm) across, and about 2.5mm deep. These mini coins fit nicely into micro caches, like 35mm film container.

Great for taking overseas and sending it home !!

On 22nd February 2011 a magnitude 6.3 earthquake hit Christchurch causing major destruction and loss of life.

Working in conjunction with our friends at geostuff.com.au and our suppliers Oakcoins we are creating this geocoin to raise funds for the victims of the earthquake.

Please note the price of this geocoin is higher then normal to help raise as much money as possible.

All profits from the sale of this coin will go to the Red cross Christchurch Earthquake Appeal.

More information regarding the amount of money raised will be updated on this page.

This is a PRE-ORDER as such the coin will be dispatched once we have taken delivery from the manufacturer.

ETA mid March.

Any items ordered at the same time as this coin will not be dispatched until the coin arrives, If you requires a faster dispatch of other items please order them separately.
Of course, you could also choose to donate directly to various charities that are involved in relief efforts. Some are referenced in this article.
